Every August, the St. Peter’s church community comes together to host an annual bazaar celebrating the feast of St. Rocco – and this year is no different! 2022 marks the 96th year the festival will be held, and Bruno’s is proud to be a part of the celebrations.
St. Peter’s Catholic Church is located in the heart of what was once Portland’s Little Italy neighborhood and was founded by Portland’s Italian immigrants. For one weekend every August, Portlanders flock to the stretch of Federal Street outside the church to eat homemade Italian cookies, pizza slices that are cooked up right in the church, play games and dance to Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.
The celebration kicks off Friday night, and there’s a Mass held Saturday afternoon followed by a procession around the neighborhood before the bazaar officially opens again at 5:00.
Bruno’s Will Be There!
The neighborhood of Little Italy is where Bruno’s got our start, and every year the Napolitano family looks forward to seeing old friends and new customers at the bazaar. This year, Bruno’s is a sponsor of the event and we’ll be there selling some favorite foods for you to enjoy! We’ll be serving up ravioli and gnocchi, as well as pouring beer and wine.
We can’t wait to see everyone at the Italian Bazaar this year. Come join the fun on August 12th and 13th, 5:00-9:30 right outside St. Peter’s Church on Federal Street. Just look for the red, white and green flags – or follow the smell of Italian food!
